Auto Open Getting Started

Auto Open Getting Started Guide

This guide is going to help you get started on the road to marketing your most precious content.

In this guide, we’re going to show you how you can get some Auto Open popups on your website in minutes.

Download & Insall

Once you’ve downloaded and installed this addon, you will now have the Auto Open Menu available for use.

Enable Auto Open

Site Wide

Enable Auto Open Pop Ups

Enable the Auto Open Add On by selecting one of your pre-existing modals from the drop down. This will make your Auto Open modal pop up Site Wide.

Notice the only tab displayed states Site Wide, so selecting one of your modals from the drop down now enables that modal to popup automatically throughout your website. Before we get into the specifics of settings, let’s cover Auto Open Per Page/Post.

Per Page/Post

For enabling an Auto Open Popup on a per page/post basis, you’ll want to edit the page/post itself.

Auto Open Per Page/Post

Auto Open your pop up on page/post basis by selecting it from the Page/Post editor.

At the bottom of your WordPress Page/Post you’ll find the EasyModal Page/Page Editor. Maximizing it will display a list of your existing modals, which you can pick and choose from which to load.

Loading & Calling Your Auto Open Popup

Selecting one of your popups from the Auto Open Drop Down will Load and Call it automatically either Per Page/Post or Site Wide depending on your preference. You don’t have to check any boxes or use any code.

Auto Open Settings

You can set the delay (in milliseconds) until the popup will display. This setting ranges from 0ms – 10,000ms.

Cookie Time

Set the cookie time to your preference in plain English. For example, “364 days 23 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds” will reset just before 1 year exactly. Leaving this setting blank will default the cookie time to 0 seconds.

Sitewide Cookie

Generally, you’ll want to check this so people don’t continuously get flooded by your popups (especially if you set the cookie time to a small value.)

For example, if you don’t check this box and a user views your Auto Open popup on the Home Page, then they come back 5 minutes later, this time entering a different page, the popup will be viewed again (even though the cookie didn’t expire) because they entered on a different page.

Or, if you’re using Site Wide and your cookie time is low, leaving this unchecked could cause users to see your pop up numerous times in a session. Of course, if this is what you want, then you’re welcome.

In the end, checking this box will prevent these scenarios from happening by preventing the modal from auto opening on any page until the cookie expires.

All Done

You’re all done – like we say, Auto Open Popups in minutes. If you have any questions, head over to our Support Page, or check out the Auto Open Addon Page for more information.
